SGA Advocacy and Service

Annual Lobby Day Delegations:

The goal is to expand student participation in advocating for policies that support education, equity, personal leadership development and so much more.
By participating, students help maintain strong relationships with state legislators, ensuring VCU gets support for research funding, acquiring additional resources, financial aid, and other time-sensitive issues. This event is a key way for students to voice their concerns and keep VCU affordable, relevant to the global economy and job market and thriving as a highly competitive institution of higher education.

Lobby Day typically takes place in late January or early February, with sign-ups opening in the Fall. While SGA officers, senators, and delegates are highly involved, any student can apply to attend and submit resolutions. Students should visit SGA’s social media and RamsConnect for sign-up details. Transportation and lunch are provided, and lobbying training is available to help students build professional skills and related competencies.

Organized by the VCU Student Government Association, this event involves projects like yard work, window washing, and painting for local residents.

The goal is to follow the national "One Big Help, One Big Day" mission, bringing students, faculty, staff, and their families together to make a difference. Everyone is welcome to participate!
