Graduate and Professional Student Senate

A group of five GPSS students smiles behind a table filled with snacks and pantry items. The VCU GPSS aims to unite graduate and professional students with diverse skills and perspectives to foster a productive exchange of ideas. Our goal is to strengthen and unify students across all areas of campus life by addressing their concerns, representing them to the university, and promoting collaboration among students, faculty, and administration on policies, rights, academic issues, and programs.

The GPSS is made up of elected Executive officers and senators who represent various schools, departments, and committees focused on student needs. These groups work together to tackle key issues and create opportunities for social engagement beyond academics. The Executive Board manages daily activities and collaborates with the Senate to advocate for students within VCU's administration and academic departments.

The Senate also works with the Undergraduate Student Government Association on matters affecting the entire student body. Recently, the GPSS has advocated for campus traffic safety, transportation options, and equity in stipends.
